RBAF turns 59 with special ceremony

The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) marked the RBAF’s 59th anniversary with a special Doa Kesyukuran ceremony at the Tower Block of the MinDef yesterday.

Instead of the traditional grand parade and mass gathering, the celebration this year themed Bersama Menjayakan Wawasan Negara was scaled down in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and Commander of the RBAF Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud attended the event.

Permanent Secretary at the MinDef, Services Commanders, Joint Force Commander, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Directors, Commandants, Senior Officers of the MinDef and RBAF, as well as Services Sergeant Majors were also present.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The event followed with the recitation of Doa Kesyukuran led by Head of Royal Brunei Armed Forces Religious Department Commander Haji Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim.

Similar ceremonies were held across all garrisons and RBAF camps.
