Discussions were held between officials of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) on issuing fines to restaurant owners violating rules and regulations such as permitting employees not to wear face masks, organising buffets or operating beyond the restaurant’s capacity.

This was said by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.

Last Thursday, the minister said despite constant reminders by the MoH, some restaurants and cafes were flouting regulations. “There are also instances where restaurant workers who are not well being forced to work. These violations are alarming and the MoH is looking at this seriously.

“Restaurant owners who violate rules and regulations will be penalised under the Infectious Diseases Act,” Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said.
