Some convenience stores appear to be less regulated in terms of social distancing, especially when customers queue up to pay for the goods. This should be noted by convenience store operators, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said.

The minister said convenience store operators should keep an eye on the social distancing measures and as further easing of restrictions to follow, the ministry “is trying to reinforce
the law.”

“With the new enforcement in the law, hopefully we can compound people straight away, making it much easier rather than taking it to court and so on,” Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd
Isham said.

He said one of the factors in controlling the COVID-19 outbreak, especially in places such as convenience stores, is through installing a QR code at their location.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham made these comments during a press conference at the Al-’Afiah Hall yesterday with regard to the Ministry of Health’s next steps in ensuring that social distance measures are implemented.
