A local man yesterday denied in the Magistrate’s Court that he had failed to comply with a directive issued by the Ministry of Health (MoH), under the Infectious Diseases Act.
Jimy Aizal bin Haji Razali, 46, pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Hafizah binti Ahmad, alleging that he had failed to report himself to the MoH as directed, after attending a religious congregation at Jamek Sri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, between February 28 and March 3.
The prosecution also informed Chief Magistrate Pengiran Masni binti Pengiran Haji Bahar that the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) had launched investigations which led to locating him.
The court adjourned the case to June 15, for trial dates to be fixed.
The charge carries the penalty of a BND10,000 maximum fine and six months’ imprisonment.
