The Intermediate Court fixed July 7 to hand down a sentence to a local chef at a cafe after he pleaded guilty yesterday to two counts of housebreakings for theft.

DPP Syazwani binti Jumat revealed in court that Zool Amali bin Mahari, 37, first struck a staff house in the Kiulap commercial area on the evening of June 10 where he stole a laptop and a mobile phone.

The defendant repeated his actions on June 12 morning, this time hitting another staff house in the Kiulap commercial area making away with two mobile phones.

Judge Pengiran Masni binti Pengiran Haji Bahar further heard that the victims of the first incident realised the belongings were missing and filed a police report.

It was the second incident which led to the police unearthing the defendant’s acts when the victim reported her loss aided by footage of the defendant in action caught on a CCTV camera installed outside the staff house.
