JAKARTA (XINHUA) – The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 979 within one day to 35,295, with the death toll adding by 41 to 2,000, Health Ministry official Achmad Yurianto said at a press conference yesterday.
He said 507 more people have been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 12,636.
The pandemic has spread to all the 34 provinces in the archipelagic country. Within the past 24 hours, there were five provinces with high tallies of cases, namely North Sumatra, Jakarta, East Java, South Kalimantan and South Sulawesi, Yurianto said.
However, no more positive cases were found in nine provinces including Aceh, Riau, Jambi, Bengkulu, West Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, Central Sulawesi and Maluku.
The Indonesian government is preparing for the new normal scenario under which the public would be allowed to resume their routines.
