Qalam Academy, in collaboration with Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) and the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI), conducted a series of visits as part of the Mahabbah Aidilfitri programme yesterday, providing aid to less fortunate families across the nation.
Qalam Academy and BIBD officials handed out hampers and green packets to the families.
Head of BIBD Government Relations and Special Projects Haji Mohammad Yusri bin Haji Wahsalfelah led the Qalam Academy and BIBD team to the homes of three recipients at Kampong Sungai Mau and Labi in the Belait District. They were joined by PDI Belait District branch officials, led by Head of the PDI Belait District branch Zikrinaidah binti Haji Mat Dikir.
The first recipient was Masnah binti Abdullah @ Jainah binti Umbok, who is unemployed and receives financial assistance from the Old Age Pensions and Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), which is used to care for Masnah’s 10-member family.
The second recipient was Muhd Ardi bin Abdullah Elijah @ Kennedy anak Elijah, who is unemployed and currently farming in the surrounding area of his residence. Third recipient Marinah binti Abdullah is a widower who lives alone.
The team continued to the Tutong District to hand donations to three other families.
Similarly, a separate contingent conducted the programme in the Temburong District, targetting three less fortunate families. The visit allowed the team to better understand the plight of the recipients and spread the festive cheer.
Haji Mohammad Yusri said the programme is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) focussing on education, entrepreneurship and community.
