An expatriate Senior Medical Officer was ordered to settle a BND2,300 fine or serve four months’ jail in default by the Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday following his guilty plea to the charges of consuming drugs and the possession of its utensil.

Aftab Ahmad Rana was approached by Narcotics Control Bureau officers inside his car parked at the roadside in Serusop at 8.50pm on April 14.

This was revealed by DPP Pengiran Hajah Nor ‘Azmeena binti Pengiran Haji Mohiddin
in court.

The court heard that the officers had suspected the defendant of being involved in drug-related activities.

The officers on approaching the defendant, conducted a search and did not find anything on his person.

A search of the car resulted in finding the utensil.

The utensil was found to contain traces of Methylamphetamine while his urine sample tested positive for the same class A drug.

Senior Magistrate Hajah Azrimah binti Haji Abdul Rahman presided over the case.
