Cock-fighting case set for July 4

Suspects of a cock-fighting gambling activity at Kampong Guayan in Mukim Ukong, Tutong District faced two charges under Section 4(a) and Section 6(1) of Common Gaming House Act, Chapter 28 at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The suspects comprising citizens and permanent residents between the ages of 27-69 years.

Details of the case were revealed by Acting Commanding Officer of Tutong Police District Acting DSP Pengiran Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad in a press conference at Tutong Police Station yesterday.

Tutong Police District of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) conducted the raid on March 3, 2019, based on public tip-off and intelligence gathering.

Some BND1,217, believed to have been used for betting and other items were seized for investigation.

The defendants pleaded not guilty and further mention of the case is set for July 4. The suspects have been released on a court bail of BND2,000 or a guarantor.

The RBPF urged the public to report criminal activities to Police hotline 993 or the nearest police station.
