BND2k fine for displaying different address on salon licence

Magtoo Hair Beauty and Nail Salon (Women Establishment) located at Berakas Commercial area was issued a BND2,000 fine by the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Magistrate’s Court after the licence holder pleaded guilty to a violation of the Beauty and Health Establishments Order 2016.

The licence holder pleaded guilty to purposefully displaying a business licence of a different address, which is an offence under Section 20 (A) of the Beauty and Health Establishments Order 2016 carrying business activity without a valid licence.

The defendant is given until August 31 to settle the fine or face imprisonment of two months in default.

Deputy Prosecutor DPP Nur’ Adilatul Hidayah binti Haji Mohd Zaidi as representative of the government read out the case under the jurisdiction of the BSB Municipal Department, Ministry of Home Affairs, a release from the Law Enforcement Unit at the BSB Municipal Department stated.

In light of the case, the department reminded licence holders under the Beauty and Health Establishments Order 2016 to comply with the regulations.

Violators can face a fine of up to BND10,000 and in the case of a continuing offence, a further fine of not exceeding BND100 daily during which the offence continues
after conviction.
