Association helps send member back to India for treatment

The Malayali Association of Brunei accomplished one of its objective by helping a member in need.

Welder Rameshan Sreedharan was diagnosed with cancer and was advised to go back to India for surgery and treatment. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, air travel back to India was limited.

With hard work by the Malayali Association and other Malayali friends, the organisation managed to send Rameshan to India on June 19 with the support of Brunei, Singapore and Indian governments.

Malayali Association President Rajesh PC expressed his gratitude to those involved in themission including the Brunei Government, Indian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam, Ministry of Indian External Affairs, Kerala government, Kerala Member of Parliament Anto Antony and the Indian High Commission in Singapore for travel approvals via Singapore and support in Kerala for Rameshan’s quarantine and treatment.

Rajesh extended his gratitude to the doctors of Suri Seri Begawan Hospital, previous Malayali Association committee leaders, Malayali Association management committee and other Malayali friends from Belait District for the support.
