Some 520 samples tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 by the Ministry of Health (MoH) during surveillance conducted in the sixth week of the de-escalation period from June 15-21. The result was revealed by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during a press conference at the MoH yesterday.
Meanwhile, the number of expanded surveillance tests from June 1-21 is 2,384 samples, of which 1,756 were taken from preschool and childcare centre staff.
He added that the surveillance will be extended to primary schools. “It will be conducted in random where 10 per cent of the total number of teachers will be selected for the SARS-CoV-2 swab test,” the minister said.
The minister also reminded the public to use their own prayer mats and to wear face masks when using surau facilities in public areas. Business premises owners must ensure that the public use their own prayer mats as well as wear face masks when using the surau or prayer room.
