The nationwide survey to assist the Ministry of Health in extending the COVID-19 surveillance will commence today at appointed health centres across the nation.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar yesterday said the random testing will be carried out by health officers at appointed health centres in all four districts.

“The test is not like the normal nasal swab test. This is what we call POCT Test, which is like testing your sugar level. It’s a prick test. The survey is to check if there is any antibody of the SARS-CoV-2 virus around the community,” the minister said.

According to the minister, the test will be carried out on adults. It will not be conducted on children.

To a question raised on voluntary testing for members of the public who wish to be tested, the minister said those who believe that they are at high risks can undergo the test. He however reminded the public to not crowd the health centres.

The survey to be conducted for a week is open to anyone visiting the selected health centres . The result of the test will be available in 15 minutes.
