Unsettled weather conditions are expected this week with occasional heavy showers or thundershowers affecting parts of the country and fair spells during the day, a Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) press release stated.
“More active weather is expected in the afternoon and evening of May 14 and 16,” it said.
“The sea state of Brunei waters is expected to be below 0.8 metres throughout the week.”
The BDMD said Brunei Darussalam is currently in the inter-monsoon season, where the country experiences warm weather and variable light winds in the morning and active development of thunderstorm clouds in the afternoon.
Thunderstorms occur mostly over inland areas during the evening and propagate out to coastal and sea areas during late night to early morning.
The inter-monsoon season is expected to last until late May or early June.
The BDMD reminded the public to take precautions during heavy showers or thundershowers, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
The public, road users and fishermen are advised to keep up-to-date with the weather forecast, advisory and warning to ensure necessary actions are taken.
