The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) issued compound fines to seven for several offences including expired road tax, invalid driving licences and faulty vehicle lights during a roadblock operation in Menglait, Gadong last Saturday night.

Officer-in-Charge of Bandar Seri Begawan Central Police Station ASP Dayangku Siti Munirah binti Pengiran Haji Damit led the operation, assisted by some 18 police personnel.

The operation aimed to enforce the regulation under the Road Traffic Act and to educate the public on the importance of responsible driving as well as complying to road traffic regulations.

During the operation, the RBPF also resorted to ‘Stop & Talk’ and ‘Stop & Search’ approaches to make sure that the public did not possess contraband items such as cigarettes, alcohol and others.

Through these approaches, the RBPF found a number of individuals loitering at Jalan Residency to Bumbungan Dua Belas areas in Bandar Seri Begawan. They were brought to the police station for further explanation, and were warned to not repeat such action again to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The RBPF reminded the public to always adhere to the government’s restrictions in the effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus, and to always have a sense of responsibility to break the chain of infection.
