Ramadhan generosity continues

The spirit of giving continues into the third week of Ramadhan.

Government agencies and private companies made further donations to the Ministry of Health (MoH) to help His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Government curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Acting Chief Executive Officer (Special Grade) at the Ministry of Health Haji Abdul Khalid As’ari bin Haji Azahari received the donations.

Perfect Vision Brunei donated 1,500 face shields, presented by its Assistant Director Pengiran Matusin bin Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahman.

Permata Abadi Contractor donated 2,040 bottled mineral water, presented by its manager, Neneng binti Haji Ahmad.

Malayali Association of Brunei Darussalam handed over a BND5,000 donation, presented by its president Rajesh PC. Meanwhile, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam partnered with the Taiwan Business Association in Brunei Darussalam and Taiwan Graduates Association of Brunei Darussalam to launch a charity campaign to donate, in stages 174 wheelchairs to public hospitals and local charity organisations here.

The first batch of 40 wheelchairs for Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital was presented to Haji Abdul Khalid As’ari yesterday by representative Andrew HC Lee, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam Chairman Richard Chuang and Chairman of the associations Albert Chin.

The wheelchairs will assist those undergoing therapy, testing and treatments, and who have limited mobility at local public hospitals and private charity organisations.

On behalf of Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd, its Managing Director Richard Chuang provided funding for an additional 30 wheelchairs. This concerted efforts fully demonstrate the friendship of people of Taiwan and the corporate social responsibility practised by entrepreneurs affiliated with the associations.

Joining Brunei’s Government-led efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam also donated dozens of inductive hand disinfectants and medical material to schools in Brunei Darussalam. The donations were testament to the spirit and value of ‘Taiwan can help, Taiwan is helping,’ and will serve as a catalyst to further enhance existing bilateral relationship between Taiwan and Brunei.

Meanwhile, Beko – through Intracorp (B) Sdn Bhd – donated to medical fronliners BND7,841 worth of appliances in the form of five Beko tumble dryers, three Beko fridges and a Beko front load washer.

Intracorp Head of Marketing Lolita Carman Bito-On presented the donation to Haji Abdul Khalid As’ari.

Intracorp has also launched the ‘Live Like A Pro in Brunei’ Beko Global Campaign, which will see 0.5 per cent of all sale proceeds (from May 1 to July 31, 2020) channelled to the MoH.
