Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar yesterday highlighted that the contact tracing app has been forwarded to iOS and Android system and is currently waiting for approval.

This was stated by the minister in providing an update of the progress of contact tracing app that will allow the government to track potential carriers of COVID-19 after the easing of restrictions.

“Once it is approved, hopefully sometime by next week, we will start socialising or disseminating the app to the public.

“The app will help the ministry with contract tracing especially when we begin to ease restrictions in a coordinated manner as well, so this will help us by making contact tracing much faster,” he said.

For the app, users will need to fill in an assessment form every day before they are issued a health code that enables them to move within the country based on three-colour ranking code – green, yellow and red – which will monitor their movement either freely (green), with limitation (yellow) or prohibited (red).

The ease of restrictions is in discussion with ministries. The lifting of restritctions will be carried out in phases and announced at a later date.
