Paying Zakat practising social distancing

A man pays Zakat (tithe) at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah while practising social distancing due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19 in Bandar Seri Begawan on Tuesday.

Zakat is a payment made under Islamic observance and one of the five pillars of Islam.

Muslims around the world are observing the holy month of Ramadhan and are required to abstain from eating, drinking and smoking from dawn to dusk.
