One recovery, 16th day with no new COVID-19 cases

One COVID-19 patient in the country recovered yesterday bringing the number of recoveries to 131. Six active cases are still receiving treatment at the National Isolation Centre (NIC) in the Tutong District.

No new COVID-19 cases were recorded yesterday in the country for the 16th consecutive day and confirmed cases remained at 138.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar provided these details at the daily press conference yesterday.

“Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah the Almighty, there are no new COVID-19 cases in the country. Therefore, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam remains at 138,” he said.

He said one patient has recovered from COVID-19 and the number of cases recovered is 131.

“This brings the number of active cases still being treated at the NIC to six where two are still in critical condition and requiring heart-lung machine (ECMO) and respiratory assistance. The rest are in a stable condition,” Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said.

“Twenty-four individuals are undergoing quarantine in accordance to the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) while 2,551 individuals have completed their quarantine.”

The minister said in the past 24 hours, 134 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 14,610.

With regard to the cases that have recovered but found to be positive again during follow-up examinations, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said there are no cases that have re-tested positive.

“Of those who previously retested positive, one had been allowed to return home. This brings the total number of such cases to 22 that have undergone further investigation and have been allowed to return home.”

In its breakdown of COVID-19 cases in the country, healthinfo.gov.bn revealed that the Brunei-Muara District has 111 cases, Belait District 21 and Tutong District six.
