Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a time for family bonding, while taking the opportunity to perform housekeeping and refraining from overeating.
This was said by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah during the daily press conference yesterday.
He also said, “Public servants will get to enjoy four days of break. Therefore, I advise my officers and staff to consider going to work or work from home during the long break.”
Meanwhile, in view of the Hari Raya shopping rush and overcrowding in the run-up to the festivities, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar urged shopping outlets to remind customers to practise social distancing while calling for the public to monitor one another.
“This COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over. Precautionary measures must still be taken,” said the minister. “This Hari Raya celebration is for immediate family members only. No open house is allowed, and people who are ill are advised to stay at home.”
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham added, “Hari Raya will be celebrated differently this year. For once in a lifetime, male members of the households will deliver the Hari Raya Aidilfitri sermon and hold Tongkat Khutbah during the sermon and lead the prayers.”
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud echoed Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham’s message and warned the public against “overcrowding shopping malls” and “placing one’s self-interest above the rest”.
He also believed that the precautionary measures that have been implemented may seem restrictive in the beginning but “in time, it will become a new normal for us”.
