A 24-year-old local man was sentenced to 18 months’ jail with one whipping by the Intermediate Court after he pleaded guilty to housebreaking for theft and related offences.
It was revealed in court yesterday by DPP Hajah Siti Mu’izzah binti Haji Sabli that Abdul Aziz bin Ja’afarduddin misappropriated a stolen property, taking an unattended bike at a residential area in Jalan Nenas Paun, Kampong Katok last month. He later sold the bike to his neighbour for BND25.

When the victim realised his bike had gone missing, he lodged a police report leading to the defendant’s arrest.

The defendant broke into the same victim’s house on two separate occasions. The police investigations stated that the victim realised that his house had been broken into when he found his 60-inch television and Blu-Ray home theatre had gone missing. The defendant admitted to also stealing the victim’s mobile phone during one of the break-ins.

Meanwhile, the police believed that the defendant had an accomplice who assisted him in stealing the television and home theatre.
