A 49-year-old local man, suspected of stealing a Toyota Kijang, a bicycle, a gas canister and several items from a school canteen, was produced before a court in Bandar Seri Begawan and was remanded.

Jamal bin Yunus, who is unemployed, is facing three charges of theft under Section 379, Chapter 22 of the Criminal Penal Code. A court hearing will be held on May 14.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) filed a case before the court on Saturday, adding that the suspect applied for bail, but was later rejected due to his history of violating bail conditions.

The RBPF also said regular checkouts will be carried out to nab petty thieves and other offenders in the country.
