Lending a helping hand to needy students

The Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) recently donated four laptops to needy students pursuing post-secondary education.

MKM President Mohd Yusof Halim said, “The school closure due to COVID-19 has led to a sharp increase in the demand for laptops as all classes have shifted online. We believe we will see a drop in demand once schools have re-opened. Our focus was, thus, on students who continue to have a real use of a laptop even after physical classes have resumed.”

Siti Nor Fatiaah binti Zulkiflee, an IT student at a private college, expressed her appreciation for the donation.

“I cannot thank MKM enough as I badly needed a computer for my coursework, especially because I’m an IT student,” she said.

MKM Vice President, who handed over the laptops, said, “The distribution of these computers was made possible by donations from the public.”
