Khatam Al-Quran goes online

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) through the Student Affairs Section in collaboration with the Student Representative Council (MPP) held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony marking the completion of recitation of 30 Juzuks of Al-Quran during the month of Ramadhan yesterday.

This year’s event was held online in response to the government’s call for the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic. Rector of UNISSA Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal was the guest of honour at the virtual ceremony and also headed the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.

The Khatam reading was led by President of MPP Muhammad Hanafi bin Rosli and followed by the recitation and Doa Khatam led by Head of the Religious and Spiritual Unit of the MPP Muhammad Najiihuddin bin Nooralizam.

The guest of honour congratulated MPP for organising the programme during the holy month of Ramadhan. In the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, the development does not hinder the implementation of religious activities.

He prayed with the blessing of Ramadhan al-Mubarak for Allah the Almighty to grant mercy and blessings to Brunei Darussalam and lift the COVID-19 outbreak.

In his welcome speech, the President of MPP said despite the current COVID-19, it was not a hindrance to glorify the month of Ramadhan. Some activities were carried out previously through Ihya Ramadhan Programme online as well as the Ramadhan Food Drive.

Some 80 people attended the UNISSA Khatam Al-Quran sponsored by the Student Representative Council of 2019/2020 through the Zoom app. Acting deputy rector, principal officers and UNISSA students were also present.
