Brunei has Kawasaki disease cases but they are rare, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said in response to a concern raised about Kawasaki and coronavirus affecting children aged between two and 15 in Italy, the United Kingdom (UK), Spain and the United States (US).
“These countries do have Kawasaki disease cases. Although not a lot, the occurrence is frequent. However, in terms of treatment, it will be very challenging because Kawasaki and the infection have to be managed,” the minister told the daily press briefing yesterday.
Cases with Kawasaki associated with COVID-19 have been reported among children in Italy, the UK, Spain and New York.
