The High Court recently revised a drug offender’s sentence to run concurrently with an earlier sentence for similar offences.
Mohammad Maleki bin Bujang was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment on February 6, after he pleaded guilty to possessing 10.4372 grammes of methylamphetamine.
Mohammad Maleki holds similar previous convictions from 2005 and 2013.
Chief Justice Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong cited the prescribed mandatory minimum sentence, which is two years of imprisonment.
The Chief Justice went to consider beyong Mohammad Maleki’s application and took into account the respondent’s submission, which resulted in Mohammad Maleki’s two-year sentence for an offence from March 5, 2014, to run concurrently with an earlier four-year sentence for offences from October 8, 2013.
