The Law Enforcement Division (LED) of the Labour Department conducted Sanggah operation 67/2020 last weekend.

The operation aimed to enforce the rules and regulations of the Employment Order 2009 and to ensure workers’ welfare are taken care of by the employers in accordance with the requirements of the Foreign Workers Licence and Employment Order 2009, particularly in ensuring that their accommodations are in good conditions amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

The operation was carried out at the foreign workers’ housing in Kampong Orang Kaya Besar Imas in Berakas.

The department said it is the responsibility of employers to comply with Section 80 of the Employment Order 2009 in providing a clean and safe residence for their employees.

Employers failing to do so may face a fine of up to BND3,000, imprisonment not exceeding one year or both.

The public can contact the Labour Department at 2381848 during office hours and hotline 7298989 after hours if they have information on abuse of the Foreign Workers Licence or any questions regarding labour issues.
