COVID-19: Fifth consecutive day with no new case

Brunei Darussalam continued to flatten the curve with no new COVID-19 cases reported yesterday. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the Sultanate remains at 141.

The updates on the COVID-19 situation in the country was revealed by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during the daily press conference at the Al-‘Afiah Hall of the Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday.

The minister said, “Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah the Almighty, there are no new COVID-19 cases in the country. Therefore, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam remains at 141.”

He explained that no case has recovered from COVID-19 yesterday, and the total number of cases recovered remains at 134. This brings the number of active cases still being treated at the National Isolation Centre to six, where two are in critical condition. One still requires heart-lung machine (ECMO) as well as respiratory assistance, and the other requires respiratory assistance. The rest are in a stable condition.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham revealed that 108 individuals are currently undergoing quarantine in accordance with the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) and 2,575 individuals have completed their quarantine.

In the past 24 hours, 36 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January to 16,073.

In its breakdown of COVID- 19 cases in the country, healthinfo.gov.bn revealed that the Brunei-Muara District has 110 cases, Belait District 25 and Tutong District six.
