Caught in the act: Individual seen dumping rubbish on Temburong Bridge

The Bridge Management Office recently detected a bridge user dumping rubbish through the closed-circuit camera surveillance system (CCTV) along Temburong Bridge. Action has been taken upon the individual.

The public is reminded that disposing or dumping rubbish in public places is an offence under the Minor Offences Act, Chapter 30, Section 12 (Amended) 2006 carrying a fine of not more than BND500. Failing to settle the fine the defendant will be brought to court, which for the first offence can be punishable with a BND1,000 fine, while the second and subsequent offences can be punishable with fines up to BND3,000 or imprisonment not exceeding three months. As stated by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah at a press conference, the public must be socially responsible and ensure that they comply to the regulations under the Road Traffic Act Chapter 68 and not to park vehicles along the roads of bridge as well as to drive safely. This is crucial for the safety of other road and bridge users.

The government also seeks public cooperation to keep the environment clean, to use public facilities wisely and to be mindful of the safety of other road or bridge users.
