Brunei marks 12 days without new COVID-19 cases

Brunei Darussalam marked its 12th day of no new COVID-19 case yesterday, with the national tally remaining at 141.

This was highlighted by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference at the Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday.

The Minister of Health said, “Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah the Almighty, there are no new cases of COVID-19 infection in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam remains at 141.

Meanwhile, no new cases recovered from COVID-19 yesterday, therefore the total number of recovered cases remains at 136. This brings the number of active cases being treated at the National Isolation Centre to four, with two are in critical condition.

One requires heart-lung machine (ECMO) as well as respiratory assistance, and one only requires respiratory assistance. The rest are in a stable condition.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said, 97 individuals are undergoing quarantine in accordance with the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) and 2,582 have completed their quarantine.

In the past 24 hours, 222 samples were tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 17,636.

In its breakdown of COVID- 19 cases in the country, revealed that there were 110 cases in the Brunei-Muara District, 25 in the Belait District and six in the Tutong District.
