Brunei enters 12th day without new COVID-19 cases

Brunei Darussalam marked its 12th day of no new COVID-19 cases yesterday, with the tally remaining at 138.

This was said by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.

“Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah the Almighty there is no new COVID-19 cases in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam remains at 138,” he said.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said there was no COVID-19 recovered cases and therefore the total number of recovered cases was 124.

Thirteen active cases are still being treated at the National Isolation Centre while two are still in critical condition and requiring heart-lung machine (ECMO) and respiratory assistance. The rest are in a stable condition, he said.

The minister said 58 individuals are undergoing quarantine in accordance to the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) and 2,517 individuals have completed the quarantine.

“In the past 24 hours, 137 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 13,717,” he said.

On the cases who have recovered but found positive again during follow-up examination, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said, “There is no case that have re-tested positive. This brings the total number of such cases as of today to 22 of which six are still undergoing further examination and testing.”

In its breakdown of COVID- 19 cases in the country, healthinfo.gov.bn revealed that the Brunei-Muara District has 111 cases, Belait District 21 and Tutong District six.
