A total of 720 families received food donations through the Belia Masjid Prihatin project carried out by mosque youth members, with the support of the Department of Mosque Affairs of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).
The project served as a medium for the public to channel their contributions to purchase the basic food essentials. The money collected over the two-week campaign was beyond expectation, with the initial target being to assist 450 families.
Some 100 youth from the Kampong Lumapas Mosque, Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Malik Tungku/Katok Mosque, As-Shaliheen Mosque, Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque, Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah and RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque involved in the project. The alumni of the Religious and Spiritual Executive, Universiti Brunei Darussalam also assisted.
The donation distribution to families across all four districts started on May 11 and was completed in the last week of Ramadhan.
Apart from easing the burden of the needy, the project also hoped to inculcate a sense of care among the public.
