Some 681 orphans in the Belait District yesterday received donations in a drive-thru organised by the Community Development Department (JAPEM), the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).

Permanent Secretary (Admi-nistration, Finance and Estate) at the MCYS Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud oversaw the campaign in the presence of Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, Belait District Officer Ramlee bin Haji Jamudin and Assistant Belait District Officer Mohd Yassin bin Haji Ahmed.

The campaign, which adopts a drive-thru concept based on the advice of the Ministry of Health (MoH) to practise social distancing, will continue until today. Those unable to attend the donation drive can visit any of the JAPEM branches from May 6-8, between 8am and noon.

Last week, the SMS Brunei Prihatin for Orphans Funds service was launched to provide the public with a platform to make a donation. Those interested in aiding orphans can text the word ‘YATIM’ to 38111, followed by the amount they wish to donate.

Alternatively, contact the Family, Women and Children Division of the JAPEM at 2380704 during office hours or call JAPEM hotline at 141 (Welfare) or 121 (Talian Anak) for information on giving donation.
