The Ministry of Health (MoH) has been working with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), particularly the Labour Department, in conducting COVID-19 tests for foreign workers and visiting their living quarters, said Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong yesterday.

During the daily press conference at the MoH building, the minister said 16 vendors are currently involved in the Ramadhan drive-thru initiative at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, with the number of participants expected to grow.

“Apart from this drive-thru initiative, places such as Sumbangsih Mulia and the Pasar Pelbagai Barangan Gadong set up online platforms for orders and pick-ups. We hope to see more of this in the future, but it’s interesting to see our community quickly gravitate towards online businesses,” he said.

“This is clearly evident at the Gerai Ramadhan website and other platforms, which have witnessed a participation of more than 12,000 vendors and customers.

“This is a very promising sign in our efforts to create a culture and encourage our people to use technology, to become a Smart Nation.”
