United Overseas Bank Brunei Branch (UOB Brunei) has donated care packs consisting of essential household items to help 15 underprivileged families affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
The care packs, part of the UOB Heartbeat COVID-19 Relief Fund, were distributed through the Society for Community Outreach and Training’s (SCOT) Ramadhan Charity Drive. Each care pack included everyday staples such as rice, cooking oil, eggs and household essentials.
“We hope that the UOB care packs will help ease the stress that the 15 families may be facing as we weather this storm together as a community,” UOB Head of Commercial Banking Cheong Peng Kheong said in a statement.
Under UOB’S #UnitedForYou COVID-I9 Relief Programme, UOB Brunei also donated computers to students from underprivileged families to help them bridge the digital divide and enhance their home-based learning.
UOB Brunei Country Manager Abdul Razak bin Abdul Malek said, “Hari Raya underscores the importance of caring for one another and we take seriously our responsibility to help those in need especially during this challenging time.
