Zakat Fitrah payment will still be carried out at designated mosques, suraus or religious halls, said Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.

This was said in response to a question during the press conference at the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) Al-’Afiah Hall yesterday.

According to the minister, the names of the appointed Amil will be announced soon along with payment procedures.

The minister added that there will not be any delay for the payment of Zakat Fitrah as it can be carried out by one person per family, which is the head of the household.

Meanwhile, the minister also said Sunnat Tarawikh prayers should be performed at home with family members only. Outsiders should not be invited to join. Therefore, an invitation of imam and ustaz – that is not a family member – to lead prayers will not be allowed. He said a family member can take up the role instead.
