Visits to recreational sites not prohibited

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar clarified that there is no restriction for the public to visit recreational sites. However, the public must comply with all the directives and advisories issued by the government in curbing the COVID-19 outbreak, he said during the daily press conference yesterday.

The minister said, “Following yesterday’s statement on the prohibition of performing activities that involve mass gathering in public places, especially in parks and recreational forests sites, beaches and lakes, the Ministry of Health (MoH) would like to clarify that the ministry has not restricted the public from visiting these recreational sites. However the public must comply all the directives and advices issued by the government.”

The directives and advices, he said “include practising physical distancing of at least one metre away from each other and to not engage in group activities. The public needs to carry out their social responsibilities and cultivate preventive measures such as not to visit recreational sites if unwell; refrain from gathering or hanging out before, during and after performing physical activities and leave the site immediately once finished; practise personal and environmental hygiene; as well as practise proper coughing and sneezing etiquette.”
