Two local youth jailed for break-ins, theft

The Intermediate Court handed jail with whipping sentences to a local duo after they pleaded guilty to housebreaking and theft related offences yesterday.

Mohammad Nur Syazwandy @ Aminurizal bin Saroz, 22, received two years and four months’ jail with one whipping. Mohammad Azeem Wan Adika bin Jeluddin got two years’ jail with one whipping. Judge Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Datu Juragan Laila Diraja Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Kefli sentenced the defendants after considering the punishments following their guilty pleas on April 8.

It was revealed in court that Mohammad Nur Syazwandy struck alone sometime between February 8 and 10 in breaking into Madang Religious School for theft, stealing some audio equipment, coins and a vacuum cleaner.

Again acting alone, the defendant struck a house on Jalan Manggis, Kampong Madang this time in the theft of three car rims and three tyres sometime between March 18 and 19.

Meanwhile between March 21 and 22, Mohammad Azeem Wan Adika alone stole a car from the parking lot of a restaurant at Sungai Akar Sentral, Kampong Sungai Akar.

On that occasion, Mohammad Nur Syazwandy voluntarily assisted Mohammad Azeem Wan Adika in concealing the stolen car. Sometime between April 2 and 4, the duo struck together, breaking into Madang Religious School between April 2 and 4, for theft, looting a carpet, a speaker, BND6 cash in a money box and three Wifi modems.

The victims whose belongings went missing filed police reports, which led to the duo’s arrest.

DPP Nur Hidayatul Aeny Alisah bZullizam prosecuted the case.
