I Say Yatta! handed over two smartphones to Lambak Kanan Jalan 49 Primary School, Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.

The smartphones included SIM cards and additional top-up of BND20 for the family of the students to communicate with the school.

General Manager of I Say Yatta! Saiful Zamhor presented the donations to school Headmistress Hajah Noorliah binti Haji Aspar.

I Say Yatta! also provides food to the medical frontliners from time to time.

Hajah Noorliah said, “The smartphones will be used by students in Year 6 who will sit for the PSR examination. We already identified a number of families who do not have any smartphones. This will be used to communicate between the family and school. They are underprivileged and receiving assistance from the Ministry of Education.”

To ensure that the mobile phones are not misused, she said, “The recipients will sign an agreement and will have to comply to regulations. The school will also monitor the usage of the mobile phones that are on loan.”

Hajah Noorliah also conveyed her gratitude to I Say Yatta! for the contribution. On e-learning, she said, “In 2013, our school is a pilot school for Whole School ICT Development (WSID) where the Ministry of Education focussed on the delivery of lessons through ICT. Teachers in the school are already well-versed in ICT and are using Zoom. The challenge is that parents are not equipped with devices for e-learning and therefore we prepare home learning packs for the students as well.”
