Despite the concern on the spread of COVID-19 in the country, the Ministry of Health (MoH) is still closely observing non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

This was the response of the Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Md Isham bin Haji Jaafar on the question on the rise of NCDs in the coming months as a result on the restrictions imposed on group exercise and closure of sporting facilities.

The minister advised the public to carry out sports activities at home for the time being. He also added that some of the public parks across the nation remain accessible for the public where people can still go for a walk around the area but emphasised to not be in groups.

He also said that although the weekly public events such as Bandarku Ceria has been called off, the roads around the capital will still be closed and members of the public are still allowed to walk around the area as long as they are not in groups.

“Although now, as I said earlier, the increase (COVID-19 cases) is not high but what is important is the physical or social distancing and also basic hygiene especially hand hygiene. Those are a priority. And, those who want to wear mask, they can do so but it is not essential.”
