Nine missing hikers in Bukit Beruang rescued

Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) personnel rescued six men and three women missing in the jungle areas near a terrace housing in Kampong Bukit Beruang, Tutong District last Saturday.

A distress call was made at 7.15pm and five FRD personnel from the Bukit Beruang Fire Station carried out a search operation.

The group was found some 2.5km from the entrance of the jungle. They were unharmed. According to FRD statistics, 10 emergency calls were made about people missing while hiking in 2019, while from January to April 20, there were five emergency calls.

The department advised the public not to have mass gathering during recreational activity as advised by the Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
