Random tests have already been carried out on migrant workers in Brunei, including hospital cleaners and construction workers, said Minster of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, during the daily press conference on the development and progress of COVID-19 cases in the country.

In response to a question on whether any sectors have come under the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) focus for random testing, he said, “There are no specific sectors, but our ministry will be collecting a few samples daily from migrant workers. The tests might be extended to barbers as well.

“This is to ensure that they aren’t already infected or carrying the COVID-19 virus before Brunei Darussalam closed its borders to foreign nationals.”

Regarding the recovered patient who tested positive again for COVID-19, the minister said, “Since that incident, our ministry has been conducting re-swabs on all patients released from the National Isolation Centre (NIC), starting on the 11th day.”
