Philippines reports 230 new COVID-19 cases, total at 5,453

MANILA (XINHUA) – The Philippines reported yesterday 230 new infections from COVID-19, bringing the total number of the COVID-19 disease cases in the country to 5,453.

The Department of Health also reported 14 more COVID-19 deaths, sending the virus death toll to 349.

Fifty-eight new patients have recovered from the virus, adding to the total number of recoveries to 353.

The number of confirmed cases is expected to increase in the coming days as the Philippines expands its COVID-19 testing.

Karlo Nograles, the spokesperson of the Inter-Agency Task Force, said yesterday that at least 38,000 individuals have already been tested for COVID-19 in the country.
