The Ministry of Education (MoE) received 350 HP Notebooks, 30 Acer laptops and 42 laptops from several companies yesterday.
The donations come in response to the ongoing donation drive jointly initiated by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) and Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) to support online learning and provide assistance to students in need, amid the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
The event also saw the donation of 18,000 face masks from a number of companies.
Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman received the contributions.
Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) contributed 42 laptops.
Of the 350 HP Notebooks donated, 130 were from Bahteramas Holdings Sdn Bhd, represented by its Chairman Haji Ahmad bin Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa, Director Haji Awang Ahmad Morshidi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Di-Gadong Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Abdul Rahman and BAHTERA Consultant Haji Shazali bin Tan Sri Dato Haji Sulaiman.
Adinin Group of Companies contributed 100 HP Notebooks, handed over by its Managing Director Haji Musa bin Haji Adnin; while Komputer Wisman Sdn Bhd donated 70 units, handed over by its Managing Director Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Ahai.
ATDC Sdn Bhd donated 25 HP Notebooks, handed over by its General Manager Muhammad Luqman Hakeem, while Aisha Automation Sdn Bhd donated 25 units, presented by its Director Muhammad Afiq Musa.
The ceremony continued with the presentation of 30 Acer laptops from Joffren Omar Company Sdn Bhd, represented by its Managing Director Pengiran Md Noor Joffren bin Pengiran Omar.
Face mask contributions were also received from Momo Insurance Agency, Dreamcars88 Enterprise and Digi-Mark Enterprise.
The face masks were handed over by Max Wee Kok Lung from Momo Insurance Agency, Tung Yun Mei from Dreamcars88 Enterprise and Alex Liew from Digi-Mark Enterprise.
Deputy Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the MoE Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin and Permanent Secretary at the MTIC Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof attended.
The donation drive to collect ICT devices to support online learning for students in need is open until May 14. Donations can be dropped off at Block A, Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus in Jalan Muara or IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus in Kuala Belait from Mondays to Thursdays and Saturdays, from 8.30am to 1.30pm.
