No new COVID-19 cases in Sultanate, one recovery

Brunei Darussalam continued to flatten the COVID-19 curve yesterday without any new cases in the country for eight consecutive days. This means the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Sultanate remains at 138. One patient has recovered from COVID-19 bringing the number of recovered cases to 124.

This was shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference at Al-‘Afiah Hall yesterday.

“Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah the Almighty, there are no new cases of COVID-19 infection in the country and one recovery.

“This brings the number of active cases still being treated at the National Isolation Centre (NIC) to 13, where two are still in critical condition and both require heart/lung machine (ECMO) and respiratory assistance. Meanwhile, the rest are stable.”

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said, “Some 114 individuals are undergoing quarantine in accordance to the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) and 2,452 individuals have completed their quarantine.

“In the past 24 hours, 168 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 13,149.” Regarding the relapse cases, he said there are no new cases. This brings the total number of relapse cases to 21, of which eight are still undergoing examination and testing.

In its breakdown of COVID- 19 cases in the country, the web application revealed that the Brunei-Muara District has 111 cases, Belait District 21 and Tutong District six.
