New chairman for BIMP-EAGA Business Council

The handover ceremony for the Chairmanship of the Brunei Darussalam BIMP-EAGA Business Council was held yesterday at Tanjung Bunut.

A limited number of attendees witnessed the event, which began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and was followed by the handing over of the chairmanship by the outgoing Executive Chairman Pengiran Haji Yura Kesteria bin Pengiran Setia Negara Pengiran Dr Haji Muhammad Yusuf, to the new Chairman Pengiran Haji Haris bin Pengiran Haji Duraman.

Pengiran Haji Haris will assume the chairmanship on April 21, with the endorsement of the outgoing executive chairman as the Permanent Advisor of the Supreme Advisory Council of Brunei Darussalam BIMP-EAGA Business Council.

Among those present were current Permanent Advisor of the Supreme Advisory Council of Brunei Darussalam BIMP-EAGA Business Council Pengiran Haji Yura Kesteria and the current Deputy Chairman Captain (Rtd) Zailan bin Pehin Datu Kerma Setia Major (Rtd) Dato Seri Laila Jasa Mohd Don.

The event also saw the presentation of certificates to various appointments to the Brunei Darussalam BIMP-EAGA Business Council, including the appointees to the posts of Secretary of Industry and Zone Development; Secretary of Domestic and Foreign Affairs; Secretary of Immigration, Quarantine and Security; Secretary of Tourism and Environment; Secretary of Welfare and Manpower; Secretary of Syariah Compliance and Halal Services; and Secretary of Islamic Affairs.

Social distancing and precautionary measures were strictly observed and followed throughout the event, which concluded with the recitation of a Doa.
