A total of 1,534 recipients of the service pension and derivative pensions (widows and dependents) have agreed to receive payment via their bank accounts as of April 20, whereas around 2,612 recipients have yet to submit their bank account number.
This was revealed by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah with regard to pension payments.
He added that since there is still a large number of recipients collecting pension payments at counters, the Ministry of Finance and Economy through its Treasury Department will continue to hand out the pension via a drive-through as done last month.
The minister said the payments for the Brunei-Muara District will be carried out at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas, the Kuala Belait Convention Centre for the Belait District, the Civic Centre Complex for the Tutong District, and the Temburong Treasury Department Office for the Temburong District.
In the month of Ramadhan, the ‘drive-through’ pension is to be held on April 28, 29 and 30 from 7.30am to 1pm, and those who are not able to come during the three days, can go to the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) during office hours.
“However, I encourage the recipients to get their payment within the three days to avoid mass gathering in the building and for the safety of the people as well,” said the minister.
The minister also advised recipients who have a bank account card to register with the Treasury Department and bring along a copy of the bank account card for next month’s pension payment process.
The minister called for recipients to adhere to instructions given by the authorities that will assist in the collection process and the advice issued by the Ministry of Health.
