As the President of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam International Students Club (UBDISC) and on behalf of all UBD international students, I would like to thank the UBD officials involved in facilitating and taking care of international students during these challenging times.
Being away from our homes during the ongoing COVID-19 situation has resulted in varying degrees of stress and anxiety for international students.
However, I must compliment UBD for making us feel at home. Preventive measures at the university are of exemplary nature and throughout so far, a clear communication has been maintained which is understandable among UBD international students.
Flexibility and responsiveness in accommodating international students travelling back to their home countries, looking after those with medical needs, provision of generous and kind ‘free meals system’ arranged by UBD and maintenance of high-quality accommodation for us at The Core Residential College remain as examples and inspiration for the world and other institutes of education across the globe.
We would like to express our gratitude to UBD Vice-Chancellor Datin Dr Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, UBD Acting Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Global Affairs) Dr Joyce Teo Siew Yean, UBD Director of Global Relations Dr Sabrina binti Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Daud, UBD Dean of Students at the Students Affairs Section Saidai bin Haji Hitam, UBD Office Head of Safety, Health and the Environment Haji Hazilan bin Haji Ramli and UBD International Student Coordinator, International Student Office Sendi anak Batu for the administrative, academic and medical facilitation extended to UBD international students.
I also thank all the front liners deployed at UBD, risking their lives for our safety and well being.
I am also proud of UBD international student volunteering in their battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. We stand with Brunei Darussalam in fighting the spread of COVID-19.
Thank you UBD, for not forgetting us in these challenging times and for maintaining an honourable decorum towards international students.
It’s a great honour and privilege for UBD international students to live and study in Brunei Darussalam.
I pray, may Allah the Almighty continue to bless the people of Brunei Darussalam with prosperity and well-being.
