Futsal coaches and enthusiasts in Brunei Darussalam have a rare opportunity of gaining insights and knowledge from a renowned futsal coach in a special webinar session for the ASEAN futsal community this Saturday at 11pm local time.
Technical Director of Andalusia Football Federation (RFAF) Spain Miguel Rodrigo will conduct a two-hour session on ‘Art of Modern Futsal’, which will cover basic concept, fundamentals and training methodology of futsal.
The Spanish tactician is a certified FIFA futsal instructor and also holds a RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) Level 3 Futsal Coaching Certificate.
Rodrigo is a popular figure in the Asian futsal scene having led the Japan national team to two Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Championship titles in 2012 and 2014.
The Valencia-born coach recently took over the role as head coach of Vietnam for two years from 2017 to 2019.
He also served as head coach of the Thailand national team where he guided them to the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship title in 2016.
Rodrigo, who was dubbed as The Magician by the Japanese media and fans, also had a stint in club coaching when he took over at Vietnamese outfit Thai Son Nam Futsal Club. He led the club to a historic runners-up finish in the AFC Futsal Club Championship in 2018 as they lost 4-2 in the final to Iran’s Mes Sungun in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Thai Son Nam’s journey to the final represents the best ever result from a Vietnamese side in AFC futsal club history.
Participants from neighbouring countries including Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia are expected to join and e-certificates will also be given upon completion of the webinar.
