Four individuals, two companies fined for littering

Two local companies were issued compound fines for public dumping, by the Law Enforcement Unit of the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department.

Syarikat Helynas Maintenance Service Energy and Syarikat Everease Enterprise were each ordered to pay BND500, for the disposal of industrial waste in public areas.

Meanwhile, Indonesians Bomi Oh and Dayat Hidayat, were each fined BND100 for discarding cigarette butts near the Gadong Properties building.

Awangku Muhammad Firdaus bin Pengiran Haji Damit and Muhammad Izzat bin Ahmad Faisal were also fined BND100 each, for dropping cigarette butts on the ground near Bangunan Haji Munchit in the Berakas area.

These offences occurred from March up to April 15.

All of the offenders were ordered to settle their respective fines within seven days. Failure to do so would result in a further fine of BND1,000, or a month’s imprisonment, for the first convicted offence.

For subsequent offences, the penalty is a fine of BND3,000 and a prison term of up to three months.
